Backend is my home base. I've shipped frontend, mobile, and everything in between. I care more about maintainability than cleverness.
Hi, I'm Chris. I'm a software developer with a background in developer acceleration, building the tools, pipelines, and infrastructure that help teams ship faster and with less friction. For the last couple of years I've been at a small startup, the kind of place where you learn how to move fast and not break things. It's made me a stronger and more well-rounded developer.
My recent work has involved building data processing pipelines that use LLMs as a component. I'm generally skeptical of AI as a solution looking for a problem, but when the problem is actually a good fit, I'm not going to ignore a useful tool. I have a CS degree and a math minor, and I once got to build a DAG with topological sort at work. Turns out some of that stuff actually comes up.
Outside of code I play a lot of pinball, real tables not digital. I also cook and bake, which I tell myself is a backup plan. I cheer for the Leafs and the Jays, for better or for worse.
TypeScript and Go day to day. PostgreSQL for data, and I read query plans for fun. Docker to keep things portable and reproducible. And whatever the problem actually calls for, which is sometimes less than you'd think.
